Usually, normal kibble comes in big plastic bags. However, most pet owners transfer the kibbles in large airtight containers, which can either be plastic or stainless steel. This way, the kibble can last as long as possible.
Storing Raw Pet Food
It may seem as though it is very easy to store kibble for a long time. While this is true, the major question remains how much nutrients do pets get from consuming this kibble? Not much, I must say.
Therefore, raw pet foods will always have the upper hand when you have your pets’ best interests at heart. Therefore, it would be best if you learned how to store these raw foods, whether they will be pre-made or DIY daily creations. Fortunately, there are several options you can go with.
First, you can choose to freeze dry the raw food. The free dried products should be stored in dark, cool places, preferably a pantry or cupboard, with minimal interference. Once used, they should be resealed in their original packaging to preserve them.
Secondly, you can choose to freeze the food. This is probably the most common option many pet parents go with. For this, one needs a freezer, and when they are ready to use the food, they thaw enough for the time.
The thawed food can be used for a maximum of 4 to 5 days before it is considered not fresh. However, if you want to keep the food smelling and tasting fresh for the pets, it is advisable to freeze-dry the food once you have opened it. This should happen at least 30 days after opening because the taste begins to go off after this.
A raw pet diet is excellent for the pet’s health. Learning how to store the food and maintain its nutritional value is important. Alternatively, you can buy fresh raw foods for your dogs and cats whenever you need them. Houston Raw Pet Food will be happy to deliver.
